Student Spotlight: Megan Brigham

Megan Brigham is a dedicated third-year Doctoral of Audiology (Au.D.) student at the University of Connecticut. She previously earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Rhode Island and selected UConn for its esteemed doctoral program in Audiology.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Megan maintains an active and crucial role in the Army National Guard. She currently serves as a Second Lieutenant, Medical Service Officer, and holds the position of Executive Officer (XO) for the 141st Medical Company.

In her capacity as Executive Officer, Megan serves as the key logistical manager, overseeing property accountability, vehicle maintenance, supervision of headquarters staff, and the coordination and oversight of medical evacuation training, which is a core specialty of the unit (medical evacuation, area support, and enroute care).

Megan’s commitment to public service is evident in her ability to successfully balance her rigorous doctoral studies with her military duties. This dedication was highlighted when she was granted a three-month excused absence from her academic program for a station in Texas. During this time, she successfully conducted hands-on medical training at Fort Sam while simultaneously attending her doctoral coursework remotely during evening hours. Her pursuit of an Au.D. combined with her leadership in the Army National Guard Medical Service demonstrates her profound dedication to serving and assisting others.

Fun fact about Megan: She recently completed a half marathon, making this her second one total!
