Learning Beyond the Classroom: Service Dogs in Action

Undergraduate students in the Introduction to Aural Rehabilitation class interacting with service dogs from Cosmic Dog Training.

Students in SLHS 4249: Introduction to Aural Rehabilitation had the opportunity to learn from Howie of Cosmic Dog Training about the essential roles hearing ear and other service dogs play in supporting individuals with disabilities. From alerting to important sounds to providing daily companionship, service dogs showcase the powerful partnership between humans and animals.

Students also learned about the rights of individuals with service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which ensures full public access for people with disabilities and their service animals. You can read more directly from the ADA Service Animal Guidance (https://lnkd.in/e6MsbGdf).

A big thank you to Howie and Cosmic Dog Training for sharing expertise and highlighting the intersection of training, independence, and inclusion!
