Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Kayla Hart

Meet Dr. Kayla Hart, an alumna of the UConn SLHS Doctorate of Audiology program! Kayla completed her undergraduate degree at Eastern Connecticut State University, majoring in Health Sciences. She worked as a pharmacy tech at this time and knew she wanted to work in healthcare, but wasn’t sure what specialty she was interested in. As an undergrad, Kayla shadowed at the New England Center for Hearing Rehabilitation (NECHEAR) and fell in love with the profession of audiology, deciding to apply to UConn’s Au.D. program. She worked at NECHEAR the summer before beginning her Doctorate in Audiology and now works there full-time as an audiologist!

Kayla’s clinical interests involve aural rehabilitation and educational audiology. Her favorite part of the job is connecting with patients and building meaningful relationships with them. While working in schools, Kayla enjoys collaborating with teachers, speech and language pathologists, and other school professionals to ensure every student feels supported and has access to the resources they need to achieve their academic goals.

A fun fact about Kayla is that she is a triplet and has been a huge UConn basketball fan since she was a kid!
