MA-SLP Alumna Wins Miss CT Title

One of our alumni, Monica Fenwick (MA-SLP class of 2024), just competed in and won the Miss Connecticut 2024 title on June 22, 2024! Through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, Monica earned her master’s in speech-language pathology from the department of SLHS at UConn this past May while simultaneously completing the CT LEND grant requirements and advocating for her patients/ students with speech, language, and communication impairments as Miss Nutmeg leading up to the competition. As Miss Nutmeg, she started her podcast, “Communication is Key,” raised funds for Augmentative-Alternative Communication (AAC) boards to be posted in school playgrounds across the state, and advocated with the governor to make May 28, 2024 “Communication is Key” Day in the state of CT. These are just a few of her accomplishments this past year. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes during her upcoming year of service at Miss Connecticut 2024!
