Lucinda Soares Gonzales CCC-SLP is an Associate Professor in the Speech Language and Hearing Sciences Department at UConn. Lucinda started out on her journey to become an SLP when she was a Junior in High School and her grandfather had a stroke. She got to witness speech therapy in practice on someone close to her which captured her interest.
Lucinda attended Southern Connecticut University for both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Speech Pathology. After graduation Lucinda worked at the Traurig House at Gaylord Hospital working with those post brain injury and stroke. Lucinda worked at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain with the adult population for 10 years before joining the UConn community as an Associate Professor and Clinical Educator. Lucinda recently was promoted to the position of Associate Department Head of Clinical Education at UConn SLHS. Lucinda’s passion’s include working with adults, as well as a variety of diagnostic areas including aphasia, voice, and dysphagia. Professor Soares Gonzales is most passionate about educating the next generation of SLP’s and finds clinical education to be extremely rewarding.
