We are thrilled to announce the revival of the Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) newsletter! There has not been a newsletter for this department in many years (perhaps even before the department split from Communication Sciences in 2012), and we are excited to reconnect with our esteemed alumni and share the latest news! The SLHS newsletter will be published biannually and include topics such as department member achievements, new research, community outreach, current events and ways for you to engage with the current students as well as fellow alumni. We understand that life after graduation is filled with countless commitments and responsibilities, but we hope that this newsletter will serve as a welcome reminder of the transformative experiences you had within our department.

The Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters have been busy for SLHS at UConn. We welcomed two new classes of first year graduate students in the Fall, and just recently graduated classes of Audiologists and Speech Pathologists into the clinical and professional world. We also welcomed our new Department Head, Dr. Derek Houston this past Fall. Together, we celebrated milestones as our second year SLP and audiology students completed their prevention projects, and third year audiology students completed their Grand Rounds presentations. There have been student award winners, scholarship recipients, faculty promotions, published research, and countless success stories of our own UConn Alumni. This year, with a focus on community outreach and engagement, we connected with Alumni to highlight their accomplishments and engagements within our fields since their time at UConn. We have also highlighted the accomplishments of our faculty members through faculty spotlights on social media accounts. Please be sure to follow our social media accounts to stay updated on all SLHS Department events, updates and accomplishments!
